Francene Christianson (American)
Born in California
Lives and works in Minneapolis, MN
Francene Christianson was inspired to return to her early interest in fine art after a career in advertising and graphic design. She had worked for creative agencies in Los Angeles and Manhattan. An accomplished black and white photographer with significant experience in traditional hand-tinting techniques, Christianson manifests such influences in her brightly colored paintings.
About her subject matter Christianson states, I paint people and places that remind me of particular moments in time. I use photographs as a setting and memories as a point of view. While these moments are transitory, painting lets me create a lasting memento of an otherwise passing view. Inspired by my family slide collection, these figurative paintings recall the look of the early1960’s. Although flanked by my past, the vintage nature of the scene has a universal appeal.
Francene Christianson’s maintains a strong exhibition record, and her paintings have been placed in private collections across the country.
